Hi guys! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but that’s because I’ve been so busy with school and I’ve been working on some personal things right now. I am here now, though, to talk about this awesome thing that I’m doing with a group of my friends here at school. We are wearing the one dress or one article of clothing (like a shirt) for the entire month of April to help spread awareness about human trafficking. I’ve been so humbled throughout just the first 5 days of this- it makes me realize how much I’ve been blessed with, even just the mere act of getting to choose what I get to wear for the days of the week. Oftentimes girls are left with the clothes on their back, if they are even left with that. Some girls are forced to wear lingerie 24/7. They are left in dangerous situations and are often beaten and used by men for cheap. I recently watched a “48 Hours” Live to Tell episodes about this 15 y/old girl who ran away from home to find love, only to find herself captured by a sex trafficker. It was a really powerful episode and made me realize how blessed I am to have such encouraging people in my life that make me feel loved- something she didn’t feel like she enough of. it led her to think that she deserved to be trafficked, which is far from the truth. it is important to spread the love and encouragement and lift each other up. If you want to find out more about human trafficking visit the National Human Trafficking Hotline; the website includes facts about human trafficking, statistics for your state, the national hotline and text number, and link to use if you have a tip to report.

I’m so excited to continue to go through this experience with my friends and continue spreading awareness for human trafficking! It’s a bigger problem than some realize.

Thank you for reading!!!
